FAQ:
Why should my child join scouts?
Scouts provides challenge and adventure to young people. It helps them to develop valuable life skills, in addition to having loads of fun. They’ll take part in adventures, experience new activities and make lifelong memories. Find out more about The Scouts
What age ranges apply to each Section?
Beavers are admitted at the age of 6. Our Beaver section is now closed..
Cubs are from the age of 8 until 10½. Thursday is Cub night.
Scouts are from 10½ until 14. Friday is Scout night.
Why is there a waiting list?
Godalming has a shortage of adult volunteers which means we don’t have enough space for everyone to join. 1st Witley is running at capacity and so we operate a waiting list system for all sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts). Want to speed up the list? Consider volunteering as an Assistant Leader or Leader to provide the scouting experience to more young people.
How much does it cost?
The costs of membership to each Section (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) is £45per term (Spring, Summer and Winter). Members will usually pay a subscription on a termly basis.
Can I register with multiple groups?
No. You can sign up for 1st Witley and join our Section waiting list. We can accept your child onto our waiting list after they have reached the age of 5.
It is District Scout policy that you can only be on the waiting list for one group. You may consider that it would be better to look at places on other local Groups. Find other local groups here
Beavers
Our Beaver section has been forced to close because we do not have sufficient Leaders and Assistant Leaders. Without new volunteer adult leaders we can not sustain running sections. If you can help us re-open Beavers, by volunteering to help, then we would be interested in hearing from you. We are also looking for volunteers for Cubs and Scout sections.
